French producer JKP returns to us after hiatus of almost a decade. His chiptune releases between 2005 and 2010 had a strong influence on how 20kbps and lobit was perceived in that era and it also affected how I looked at my label.
Nine years later, it's a different world. A different netaudio scene. And of course, 20kbps has changed as well. Nostalgia is big, everything is retro. JKP takes it some steps further with a short EP dedicated to Film Noir. The four tracks use samples from four movies: Impact, He Walked By Night, Plan 9 From Outer Space and Manos: The Hands Of Fate. Only the first two are Film Noir, the other two are Horror B Movies. Being a cinephile I've seen them all, in the period when JKP was first releasing here. You see, everything is connected.
